About This Scheme
The Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme is a landmark initiative by the Government of Punjab aimed at providing free solar energy systems to low-income households consuming up to 200 units of electricity per month. Under this program, eligible families receive a complete solar installation including panels, batteries, inverter, and wiring at no cost, enabling them to generate their own clean electricity and significantly reduce or eliminate their monthly electricity bills. The scheme is part of Punjab's broader energy transition plan to reduce dependence on the national grid, lower carbon emissions, and provide energy relief to the most economically vulnerable segments of society. Registration is conducted through the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) portal.
