Scheme Overview

اسکیم کا جائزہ

Why the Sehat Card Matters

The Punjab Sehat Card gives low-income families free treatment at empaneled hospitals, so a medical emergency does not push a family into debt.

  • Free in-patient treatment up to a yearly limit
  • Covers surgeries, maternity and major illnesses
  • BISP and Ehsaas families are automatically eligible

Key Benefits

  • Cashless treatment at approved hospitals
  • No premium to pay for eligible families
  • Use your CNIC at the hospital counter

Good to Know

  • Treatment is free only at empaneled hospitals.
  • Eligibility is mostly automatic via BISP and NSER data.
  • The service is free, never pay an agent.
Please note (status): The Punjab Sehat/Sahulat programme is managed by PHIMC, and its eligibility and coverage have changed over time. Cover is for inpatient (admission) treatment only at empaneled hospitals, up to an annual limit set by PHIMC. Confirm your current eligibility and the coverage limit on the official PHIMC portal before relying on it — do not assume a fixed amount.

What this scheme actually does

The Sehat Card lets eligible Punjab residents receive cashless in-patient treatment at empaneled (approved) government and private hospitals, up to a yearly coverage limit. Your CNIC acts as the card — you show the original CNIC at an empaneled hospital and a Hospital Facilitation Officer helps with admission.

Who it is for (and whether you may qualify)

Punjab residents identified as eligible by PHIMC (families registered under BISP/NSER are typically identified automatically). Because policy has changed, always check your own current eligibility officially rather than assuming.

What is and isn’t covered

  • Covered: hospital admissions/surgeries and certain major treatments at empaneled hospitals, up to the annual limit.
  • Not covered: OPD (outpatient) visits, and specific exclusions such as cosmetic and dental procedures — check the official list.

How it works

  • Check your eligibility on the official PHIMC portal.
  • If eligible, go to an empaneled hospital with your original CNIC when admission is needed.
  • Ask the Hospital Facilitation Officer to process treatment under the card.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Expecting OPD/outpatient cover — only admissions are covered.
  • Going to a non-empaneled hospital.
  • Assuming an old coverage figure is still current.

How to verify and avoid scams

This is a free government programme — registration and status checks never require a payment. Never pay an agent to “get you approved,” never share your CNIC PIN or mobile OTP, and ignore fake calls, SMS or websites. Use only the official channel below, and remember approval is subject to the programme’s official criteria — no one can guarantee selection.

Q: Is OPD treatment covered by the Sehat Card?
No. The card covers in-patient (admission) treatment at empaneled hospitals only; OPD is not covered.
Q: How do I check if I am eligible now?
Check on the official PHIMC portal (phimc.punjab.gov.pk) or call the helpline 0800-09009, as eligibility has changed over time.
