Why You Need a Passport

A Pakistani passport, issued by the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGIP), is your official document for international travel and proof of Pakistani citizenship abroad. Pakistan now issues both Machine Readable Passports (MRP) and chip-based e-passports.

  • MRP (green) and biometric e-passport
  • Validity options of 5 or 10 years
  • Children under 15 are issued 5-year passports only

Eligibility Criteria

Pakistani citizen holding a valid CNIC (or B-Form for children).
First-time applicants and those who never held a Machine Readable Passport.
Overseas Pakistanis may apply using their NICOP.
Children under 18 apply using their B-Form / CRC.

How to Apply — Step by Step

Apply online at the DGIP portal (dgip.gov.pk) by creating a login and verifying via OTP, or visit a Regional Passport Office (RPO).

Enter your details exactly as per your CNIC / NADRA record.

Complete biometric capture and photograph (at the RPO or as guided online).

Choose validity (5 or 10 years) and pages, and pay the fee.

Receive a tracking ID by SMS / email; track at dgip.gov.pk and collect or receive your passport by courier.
