Service Overview

Why Renew on Time

A CNIC is valid for a fixed period u2014 usually 10 years u2014 after which it must be renewed. An expired card is not accepted for official transactions, so renewing promptly keeps your identity active and avoids disruption to banking, travel and government services.

What Happens If It Expires

  • Banks may restrict transactions on accounts linked to an expired CNIC
  • It cannot be used for a passport, SIM or property transaction
  • Access to pensions and welfare payments can be interrupted
  • Travel and visa processes may be delayed

  • Renewal upgrades your card to a chip-based Smart NIC.
  • You can renew before expiry or after it has lapsed.
